General Information
Experience the majestic landscape of Addo Elephant Park , home to the Big 5. Our Nyathi village secured by electric fence is true Glamping with every rider getting the choice of Single or Twin sharing luxury 3-man tent including proper beds, fresh linen each with their own sundowner verandah.
We have generator-powered charging facilities located in the ‘chill zone,’ where you can charge e-bikes and other devices over the four days we spend in Big Five territory. The chill zone, with our chino Bedouin, is where sumptuous cuisine is served, and our bar, with all drinks being part of the package, is a hit with all our 25 riders.
Nyathi will be our home for 4 days and 3 nights, and is the gateway to great game viewing, awesome MTB tracks and most of all… a chilled and relaxed 4 days deep in the heart of the Big 5.

Itinerary at Best of Nyathi ( 20 – 23 August 2025 )
Opening day of the trip which takes place on Wednesday.
1pm: Registration opens at Addo Main Camp.
2:30pm: Game Drive, we will load everyone into the game drive vehicles and go on a game drive inside Addo Main Camp, to give everyone a small taste of what they might expect over the coming days.
3pm: We will then transfer you back to the lapa and those who have SUVs / Bakkies can follow the game drive vehicle to our tented camp. Those with smaller cars can loads bags and bikes into the RCE vehicles and jump in the game-drive vehicles to get moved to the camp. Your vehicle can be safely parked here until we return on Friday.
There will be light snacks and supper provided on this day.
The ride starts at 8 am.
The ride gets underway after breakfast and boxed in between the 2 game drive vehicles with armed rangers, we wind our way on jeep track exiting the park on the Western border. We then set you free up the Zuurberg Pass and on arrival at the Zuurberg Inn, high tea is served. We then enter the SANParks ride and embark on a beautiful roller coaster ride all the way back to Nyathi. At any time, if the legs are weary, then feel free to jump into the back up vehicle and enjoy the ride which is laden with drinks and snacks at all times.

A similar departure to Day 1 and instead of the Zuurberg climb, we tackle the trails of Hayterdale which has some awesome single track, great switchback climbs and awesome descents. After a morning of play, we enter the park and take up the formation designed for everyone’s safety. We arrive back at the village in time for a hot shower, cold beer and some cool snacks in the chill zone. Supper served at 7pm and for many an early night… some test the capacity of the bar… the bar always wins!
The ride starts at 7 am
We reverse the route from Day 1, with a long climb and on many tours have been rewarded with great game viewing. We will often leave our bikes and drive in on the game drive vehicle to get closer to the Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino etc. Nothing is guaranteed and treat these sitings as a bonus. We are normally back in camp by 12 noon, a hot shower, a light snack and we pack up and head for home.

Have your cars parked right next to both the camp sites. So you can camp out in luxury and bring as much kit / clothing as you desire.
24/7 Ranger supervision
As we are camping out amongst the Big 5, we will have armed rangers with us for the entire duration of the trip. Both on the bike and at camp. You can rest easy knowing that you are in good hands.
Exclusive access
The roads we ride aren’t accessible to the general public in vehicles, let alone anyone on mountain bikes. You will be exposed to areas that only official members of SAN Parks have been privy to, a truly unique experience.

Cancellation Policy
A R 5000pp non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your entry, with the balance payable 2 months before the event date.
Riders wanting to cancel will forfeit the following part of their total entry fee.
25% of entry fee will be retained for admin costs and the balance refunded if written notice is received 4 months before event date.
50% of the entry fee will be refunded if written notice is received 3 months before the event date.
25% refund if written notice is received before 2 months before event date.
After 2 months to go, 0% will be refunded. Riders can at any time sell their entry and a substitution can be done at R300 per rider. The rider substituting will be given the merchandise size for the people whose entry they took over.
